La Bottega della Pizza

Pizza and beer, it still is a great combination! Most pizza places, however, offer little more than a commercial lager, and certainly no draught options. At La Bottega della Pizza Sablon, there’s at least the reassuring presence of a couple of De la Senne beers on draught, alongside Dupont‘s organic saison Biolégère, to go with the wide selection of Neapolitan pizzas.

Apart from the saison, Jambe-de-Bois, Zinnebir and a rather pricey bottle of Cantillon gueuze (€ 32,-!), the only other available beer at  La Bottega della Pizza is the Italian lager Birra Ichnusa, brewed at a Heineken owned brewery. The slightly better Non Filtrata version of this beer was in the fridge as well, but we overlooked this on the menu, and only noticed it when leaving.

Something we did see when coming in, was a big, metal sign on the wall of Birrificio Artigianale Barley, an Italian microbrewery we had the pleasure of tasting some beers from at La Tana. No sign of them on the menu or in the fridge though, and the staff had no clue why it was there…

We couldn’t fault the pizzas though: they tasted as we have come to expect from Neapolitan pizzas, and the proposed toppings were quite original. You might want to keep a translation app open however: the names and descriptions of the pizzas and side dishes are exclusively in Italian!
