L’Impasse

On the freshly renovated Place du Chatelain you’ll find the welcoming terrace of L’Impasse. Inside, the sixteen taps immediately tell you they mean business when it comes to beer! A quarter of those taps were even dedicated to beers from their very own brewery!

You might not have heard of a brewery L’Impasse, and you’re right. But this bar is part of the L’Amère à Boire group—with three other bars, in Ixelles, Saint-Gilles, and Uccle—who last year bought the brewing equipment of the unfortunately now bankrupt En Stoemelings, and now brews their own beer under the name Et l’Amère Fût. And we have to say: so far, some really nice beers have come out of it!

A couple of lines are tied up with beers from the Luxembourgish Brasserie Nationale (Battin), but there are plenty of beers from other local breweries available, both on draught and in can or bottle: De la Senne, La Mule, Surréaliste, Beerstorming, Witloof, Janine, La Flaque, Fugu

Don’t hesitate to bring your non beer drinking friends along, though, since cocktails seem to be quite an important part of the drinks offer in L’Impasse!

Beats instead of Bites

If you go to L’Impasse in the evening, make sure you first have something to eat somewhere else—RAMBO and CHEZWaWa are nearby—since the bar doesn’t serve any food, as far as we could tell. It does dish out beats though, as there are DJ’s invited regularly, and sometimes there’s even live music!

tl;dr
