Chill’b

UPDATE: Closed permanently…

Sometimes a lot of time goes in deciding which bar or restaurant to choose to feature next on our blog, going over our list of potential venues over and over again, trying to find something that fits our mood and the available time. And sometimes you just stumble upon a candidate when going out for an easy dinner in a recently opened burger bar. As it turns out, Chill’b perfectly fits the conditions to feature on here: is a place where you can have a nice meal, and — quite unexpectedly — with a good beer.

It doesn’t always have to be a long beer list to be a good one. There are just three beers available at Chill’bTaras Boulba, Brusseleir and Zinnebir, all three from De la Senne. Hopefully they will get the proper glassware from this brewery as well, since the glasses currently used are quite thick, meaning the beer will warm up rather quickly if the glasses aren’t very cold to begin with…

The burgers — beef, chicken and vegetarian, sixteen different variations in total — are unpretentious, but still very tasty. None of the burgers costs over €10, although sides are not included in that price.

A big plus for us, is the inclusion of chicken wings and tenders on the menu, something we’d like to see more in bars as well!

On the dessert menu there’s frozen custard, a very American take on ice cream — made with eggs — and delicious.

The lemonade served at Chill’bBoylan — is just as American, or actually even more, since they’re delivered straight from New York, apparently.

But if you’re having shipments from New York coming over anyway, why not chuck in a couple of sixpacks of Evil Twin beer, Other Half Brewing or Sixpoint as well, to make the American experience complete? Without neglecting our local brewers, of course! Maybe we’ll suggest it on our next visit, since we haven’t finished trying all the different burgers and wings yet…
