Barboteur Beersdays #1

FestivalBarboteurBanner

We started this blog with an article about Le Barboteur – Bièrothèque a couple of weeks ago, and already this weekend — Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 May — they will be celebrating their first birthday. They’re doing this in style, organising a beer festival with an impressive list of attending breweries. It looks like the first edition of these Barboteur Beersdays is set to become an event not to be missed!

BeersdaysGlassThere will be beers from 22 breweries from Belgium — three of which from Brussels — and from the rest of Europe: England, Sweden, France, Finland, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Estonia. Some of these breweries have never been to a beer festival before, and quite a few of the beers have never been available in Belgium thus far. This means there will be a lot of new brews to try, even for the more experienced beer lovers!

At the festival there will a system of 15 cl tasting glasses (€2) and tokens (€2, one token per tasting), as is customary at a lot of beer festivals, but admission is free, and there’s no need to buy fixed packages. Not sure if there will be booklets with information about the beers and breweries, but if you’d like to prepare yourself, check the Facebook event (Barboteur Beersdays #1) for the beer lists announced so far.

As you can imagine, the Barboteur beer shop/bar is not big enough to host all those breweries, so the beer festival will take place at the Ecuries van de Tram. This is in Schaerbeek as well, only a five minute walk from the bar. There will be an afterparty on Saturday, taking place back in the bar again.

A number food stalls from the organic market of the Ecuries van de Tram will be there to provide us with quality food, to satisfy our cravings and to absorb some of the alcohol…

There will also be the opportunity to play different kinds of games around the tasting area, such as petanque or card games, and see home brew demonstrations.

Beers ’n’ Bites in Brussels will be at the Barboteur Beersdays for a couple of beers for sure, so come and say hello if you see our logo somewhere! 😉
