A bit hidden in the often forgotten Rollebeek street—the Sablon and the Church of Our Lady of the Chapel—you can find the cosy Wallen eatery. On the menu: tasty Mexican inspired dishes for all sizes of appetite, and beers by Brasserie Witloof!
While the main dish available at Panam Kebab—and the name tells you already what that is—might give you the impression it is just a snack place, the added word ‘artisan’ makes it clear it is more than that. And as it turns out, they’re actually serving local craft beer with their craft kebabs!
The sando is quickly gaining popularity in Brussels. One of the first places where we saw this Japanese type of sandwich was at Chou Sando, in the centre of Brussels. The prominently displayed beers we saw there, immediately made this Japanese sandwich shop an obvious candidate for our blog!

In passing, you might mistake Beer Planet for one of those beer shops aimed at tourists, mostly selling bog standard beers and weird glasses… However, you couldn’t be further from the truth. Once you enter the shop, see the shelves full of—mostly very local—craft beers, and meet the Latino owners, their love for beer becomes blatantly clear!

The cooperative brewery CoHop has a nice taproom, where beers of all the participating breweries are served. However, the student area of Etterbeek isn’t exactly craft beer central… So, one of the five CoHop breweries opened their own taproom in Saint-Gilles, a bit closer to the action this time: La Bagarre.
Our visit to Kastar was slightly overdue, but only because the last time we tried to visit it, it was closed while according to the information we found, it should have been open… We’re glad we gave it a second try though, because what we found was a stunning interior, and a very attractive selection of beers!

On the freshly renovated Place du Chatelain you’ll find the welcoming terrace of L’Impasse. Inside, the sixteen taps immediately tell you they mean business when it comes to beer! A quarter of those taps were even dedicated to beers from their very own brewery!

For centre dwellers like us, it was quite a trek to get to Silex Bar… It was totally worth it though, and the inhabitants of the until recently beer bar deprived south-east of the Brussels capital region, can finally take delight in having a bar with an excellent and varied beer selection in their area. And, with a bit of luck, they’ll still be able to enjoy some glasses on the off-street terrace!
It has been a while since we’ve visited the very first smash burger restaurant in Brussels, and even Belgium… Many more have popped up since, but few qualified for our blog. The burger joint Smash in the Flagey area however, went the extra mile, and exclusively serves beers from Brussels breweries with their pressed patties.
A Syrian restaurant wouldn’t be the first place we’d look for beer. However, after spotting L’Ermitage branded parasols outside one of the restaurants of My Tannour, we had to put it on the list for a visit. When we then went for lunch in their Rue de la Brasserie outlet, a selection of their beers was indeed available to enjoy with our lamb wrap and falafel dish!
