It can be quite frightening when upon entering Caberdouche, you see big tanks of Stella below your feet in the pits of hell where they belong… Or maybe it is just a floor window offering a glimpse of the the beer cellar of the bar? Luckily, there’s quite a bit more on offer, among which a dedicated Brussels Beer Project tap, and a couple of beers from Tiny Rebel, that not quite so tiny anymore Welsh brewery, that seems to become more available in Brussels every passing day.
Most of the ten taps at Caberdouche are for the usual AB InBev beers, Goose Island‘s pale wheat ale 321 already being a rarer, but not really more inspiring addition. The current beer of Brussels Beer Project on that BBP-dedicated tap is even one of the latest brews made in Brussels: Ste Kat’.
On the permanent bottle list, there are some more beers from Brussels Beer Project, but also from De la Senne and En Stoemelings. The guest beers are actually even more interesting, including three different beers from Tiny Rebel — Cali, Hadouken and Full Nelson — and Stone‘s IPA.
All those bottled and canned beers are available for take-out as well, and prominently displayed for that purpose in their “Beer & Wine Shop”.
The actually daily changing “dishes of the day” — two of them — seem to be drawing in quite a few office workers from the neighbourhood, since the place was packed around lunchtime. The rest of the food menu includes lasagne, croque monsieurs, salads and a soup of the day. Then there’s something called the “Caberdouche plate”, which seems to consist of three, five or eight — depending on which size you choose — tapas-like dishes. Even though Caberdouche likes to call itself a crêperie as well, the choice in pancakes is rather limited, and only available during the weekend.
On Saturday and Sunday you can also drop by for an all-you-can-eat brunch, but we’ll have to test another time if the buffet can survive our voracious appetite after an evening of drinking…
